Born from Battle
The origin of Reevo's Hot Sauce begins in 2011 on the Mississippi River in Memphis, TN. I, Reeves Callaway (aka Reevo), was experiencing my first time at the World Famous Memphis in May Bar-B-Que Contest as a guest in the Smoker's Anonymous BBQ team tent. It was a Friday afternoon, which meant it was competition day for those cooking in the "Anything But" categories (anything but pork). I saw one of the team chef's making his hot sauce for the Hot Wings Competition, and he was adding orange juice, ketchup, chili flakes, garlic, and many other ingredients I had NO idea went into a hot sauce.... I was intrigued.
Quite literally the next day, I decided to make my own hot sauce out of similar ingredients that I saw the chef use. It was AWFUL. I can still remember the distinct taste. Over the course of 7-8 months, I whittled my ingredients down to what Reevo's is made of today. Being a cocky 14-year old kid, I decided to approach the Smoker's Anonymous team with a proposition.... a wing cook-off to be the new hot wing chef for the team. You make your wings. I'll make mine. After a blind taste test, whoever wins is the new hot wing chef. "Challenge Accepted"
I won that hot wing cook-off and became the hot wing chef for the team at 15 years old.
Year 1: 24th place of 100+
Year 2: 21st place of 150+
Year 3: 14th place of 175+
Year 4: 6th place of 224 teams
After the 6th place finish, the sauce had to be named. What better than the nickname my father called me? Reevo. Please Enjoy.
